Hey friends,
Hope you had a good weekend.
Here’s this week’s 1 Doodle · 1 Do · 1 Direction.
1 Doodle
This week’s doodle is about respecting your work shutdown time.
Is it 5 pm? 6 pm? 7 pm?
Or do you work on weekends just to keep up with the demand?
Two weeks ago, I had a coaching session with someone who was thinking about switching jobs because the line between work and life had become blurry.
She said, “I’ve changed roles internally three times, and the same thing kept happening. My 5 pm became 6 pm, 6 pm became 7 pm… and before I knew it, I had my laptop on my lap, working through the weekend.”
I drew this as a reminder: keep a clear boundary between work and life.
1 Do
Most of the time, you don’t need to announce your boundary.
Just don’t check your work phone or laptop after your shutdown time. Your behavior sends the signal.
This week, pick a clear shutdown time and stick to it. No email or chat or “just one quick check.”
1 Direction
Rest is not separate from work. It’s part of it.
When you blur the line between work and life, you remove the very thing that makes good work possible. Over time, you’ll make more mistakes, feel more drained, and enjoy both less.
Of course, sometimes something urgent comes up. That’s normal.
But if it’s happening every day, it’s a system issue. And that system will eventually push you toward updating your resume.
And if you do move to a new job, don’t repeat the same pattern. Start with what you did in 1 Do.
That’s all for this week.
Warmly,
- Ehsan /a-🌞/
