Hey friends,
Hope you had a good weekend.
Here’s this week’s 1 Doodle · 1 Do · 1 Direction.
1 Doodle
In the past two weeks, I talked to 11 people who lost their jobs or were laid off.
For many of them, the explanation they were given was AI.
I’m going to talk more about this in tomorrow’s YouTube video. If you haven’t subscribed yet, this is your friendly reminder. :)
After those conversations, I started watching many interviews with CEOs of AI companies. One claim I kept hearing again and again was:
“Next year, your job will be replaced by AI.”
The story is usually framed as a scary future where AI takes over your work and you get left behind. I personally think this is often exaggerated.
So I drew this doodle to remind myself of something: every year, according to many AI company CEOs, “next year” is the scary AI-dominated year.
1 Do
This week, use the free version of any AI tool and test one simple thing. Ask yourself: “Is there any part of my work that AI can help me do faster or better?”
And if you try it, let me know. I’m curious what people can actually do with AI at work, not just what AI CEOs promise it will do someday.
1 Direction
When we cross a street, many of us look both ways.
Because even if there is only a tiny chance that a car is coming from the wrong direction, the outcome could be catastrophic.
I think AI is similar.
If AI truly replaces 100% of our jobs, that would be catastrophic. So yes, it makes sense to pay attention, learn the tools, and understand how AI may affect our work.
AI CEOs have every reason to make the future sound urgent and scary. The scarier it sounds, the more likely we follow every update and pay for the next subscription.
So this week, I’m reminding myself:
Use it where it helps. But don’t believe everything AI CEOs tell you about it.
That’s all for this week.
Warmly,
- Ehsan /a-🌞/
