Hey friends,
Hope you had a good weekend.
Here’s this week’s 1 Doodle · 1 Do · 1 Direction.
1 Doodle
Two weeks ago I received a book I pre-ordered in Dec 2025, Beyond Belief by Nir Eyal. Around the same time, I noticed Adam Grant’s new book (Vibe) is also available for pre-order. I mentioned both to a friend, and our conversation turned into a bigger topic: self-help books.
We both agreed on something familiar. There are so many great books out there, but many people still struggle to turn what they learn into real habits.
My friend is a good example. He is building a solid habit around going to the gym and his diet is controlled and consistent. But his sleep is not. And that one thing makes everything else harder.
That’s what inspired this doodle. I think of self-help books like the coxswain (pronounced “cox-in”) in a rowing boat. The coxswain doesn’t row. They steer, set the rhythm, and keep the team focused and motivated. Self-help books can do the same for our lives.
But the boat still depends on the rowers. If the “rowers” (diet, sleep, and exercise) aren’t in sync, we drift, even with the best guidance. And if sleep is repeatedly off, the whole system struggles.
1 Do
Track your sleep for 7 days this week.
If you have a smartwatch, use it. If not, just write down when you sleep and when you wake up.
Pay attention to two things:
- Are you getting enough sleep hours?
- Is your sleep schedule consistent, or does it swing a lot (9 pm one night, 2 am the next)?
Pick one small adjustment and try to make your sleep pattern a little more regular.
1 Direction
Not all three pillars have the same weight. For me, sleep has the biggest impact. Also, not everything can be fixed overnight, so don’t try to fix all three at once.
This week, I’m choosing one thing to bring back in sync. For me, it’s exercise.
That’s all for this week.
With love,
- Ehsan /a-🌞/
